Don’t be fooled by those rugged Dutch good looks.

Windmills may look like they have been built to stand the test of time, but they are very vulnerable to natural disasters. There are two main causes. The first is through fires resulting from lightning strikes, which is hardly surprising when you consider that large parts of the structure are usually made of straw or wood, and sometimes both.

And the second type of natural disaster can actually make them fly.

The tour is available from the VoiceMap app for Android and iOS. Crisp professionally engineered audio with unique stories for those who think they know Hattem, and world travellers alike!
